One 18-year-old teen and two juveniles were arrested

On Sunday (Sept. 10) just before 11 p.m., Clark County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) deputies responded to a report of several subjects breaking into cars in the parking lot of the Pioneer Vista Apartments located at 16501 NE 15th Ave.

Deputies arrived to find the suspects in the process of attempting to steal a vehicle in the parking lot. As the suspects fled on foot, their getaway vehicle took-off as well, striking a CCSO patrol vehicle and another parked vehicle.

One teenaged suspect was apprehended at the scene and later transported to the Clark County Juvenile Detention Hall on charges related to motor vehicle theft.

The getaway vehicle, a previously reported stolen Hyundai Elantra, struck another CCSO patrol vehicle in the lot and nearly ran over a CCSO sergeant. Tire deflation devices were successfully deployed against the vehicle as it fled the scene and drove south on NE 15th Ave.

A short vehicular pursuit ensued before the Hyundai crashed into a crosswalk pole at the intersection of NE 10th Ave and NE 139th St where the two occupants fled on foot. They were both captured a short time later. The passenger, another teen, was transported to JDH on charges related to motor vehicle theft.

The driver of the stolen Hyundai was identified as 18-year-old Xavier Perry. He was booked into the Clark County Jail on suspicion of Attempted Vehicular Assault, Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, Attempt to Elude a Police Vehicle, Reckless Driving, and Resisting Arrest.

There were no injuries reported as a result of this incident. The subjects involved in the motor vehicle collisions received precautionary medical evaluations at an area hospital prior to being transported to their respective detention facilities.
